Avetta vs. ISNetworld vs. Highwire Comparison

For owners and builders, mitigating contractor and supplier risk requires selecting the appropriate tools. Read below to compare three popular solutions for contractor risk management: Avetta, ISNetworld, and Highwire.

Criteria For Comparison

To choose the right solution for your organization, consider factors beyond pricing and product features. Although important in your decision, it’s most valuable to choose the best fit.

Contractor Certification Process

In each platform, contractors, vendors, and suppliers must complete a certification process. The process varies between the three software companies.

Industries You Serve

There are nuances to each industry that, when missed, can be costly. Make sure the solution you choose is applicable to the industries in which you provide service.

Your Organizational Goals

Selecting a software solution that aligns with your company’s objectives and initiatives is crucial to successful program execution.

Ease of Doing Business

Equally important to the product is the company behind it. Make sure their service, support, and values meet your expectations.

Why companies choose ISNetworld, Avetta, or Highwire

ISNetworld

ISNetworld was founded in the year 2001, following regulation that required the prequalification of contractors working in O&G. ISN established itself as a leader in the space with a software solution that streamlined the prequalification process.

Companies in the O&G industry choose ISNetworld for its legacy in the industry.

Avetta

Avetta, founded in 2003, entered as a supply chain risk management solution, also to serve the O&G industry.

Its growth has been primarily driven by clients in the O&G and chemical industries who choose Avetta as an alternative to ISNetworld.

Highwire

Highwire was founded in 2008 at Harvard University with the goal of protecting students, faculty, and workers while reducing insurance and incident claims costs on capital projects.

Highwire serves asset owners and general contractors delivering complex capital projects and facilities maintenance in pharmaceuticals, advanced manufacturing, semiconductors, data centers, and more.

What professionals say about ISN, Avetta, and Highwire

ISN

“Everything, the website is the most difficult to update, it is the most expensive, it is the slowest to respond to changes. They have poor customer service for contractors. Awful, if you make a mistake and correct it and prove it was a mistake they will still over bill you.”

Avetta

“I like absolutely nothing about this product. We use a lot of safety platforms for different customers and this, without a doubt, shouldn’t even exist or be allowable.”

Highwire

“Highwire stands apart from other systems because it only requests relevant data and its software reads and verifies your uploaded safety manuals instantaneously.

Uploading the entire manual is much easier than having to pull out individual sections to address specific requirements!”

ISNetworld Avetta Highwire
Who is the solution for? ISN was built by OSHA regulators and oil consultants to ensure compliance of facilities contractors in upstream energy by assessing compliance programs on a pass/fail basis. Avetta was built by oil safety engineers to audit the procedures of suppliers in downstream energy by assessing supplier practices on a high-risk/low-risk. Highwire was built by the EHS team at Harvard University to improve the performance of construction and facilities maintenance contractors in advanced manufacturing by assessing risks and collaborating with partners.
How do contractors become certified? Contractors are required to complete a questionnaire that can exceed 2,000 questions, complete several programs through ISNetworld, and upload documents to support compliance. Avetta requires suppliers to answer questions to ensure they have they satisfy general compliance standards. The process is complex and must be regularly updated. To help complete the process, Avetta has a support team available at a cost. Highwire requires a short questionnaire of less than 100 questions and 3 years of safety and/or financial information. The process takes an average of 35 minutes. Highwire has internal assessment specialists to support contractors at no additional cost.

Support and ease of doing business

“Highwire is an amazing product. The system provides feedback on where your challenges exist and what needs attention.

Our Safety Score has increased by 20% in four years while our recordable rate has dropped over 70%. I’d recommend this solution to any contractor.”

Kirk Williamson, Director EH&S

Giampolini Group

Charles Hineman, Safety Director

Fisher Tank Company

“We have worked with Highwire since 2016 and our experience has been extremely positive.

The level of support my team has received is world-class. We have used other programs but they are not as user-friendly and easy to work with.”

Why choose Highwire?

  1. HIGHWIRE HELPS CLIENTS ACHIEVE 100% ENROLLMENT

Your solution is only as good as the number of contractors that enroll. Sub-optimal enrollment rates leave gaps in risk, hindering your ability to mitigate risk.

Highwire’s solution is designed to reduce the enrollment friction associated with legacy contractor management systems through an easy-to-use interface, risk assessments that only require relevant information, and an in-house team of dedicated assessment specialists.

  2. HIGHWIRE HELPS MITIGATE RISK THROUGHOUT THE PROJECT LIFECYCLE

Highwire goes beyond basic compliance and helps contractors succeed.

This framework allows asset owners and general contractors to maximize profitability by delivering on time, saving on insurance, and protecting your reputation. This cannot be achieved through baseline compliance.

  3. HIGHWIRE PROVIDES A FULL VIEW OF RISK, NOT A SIMPLE “PASS/FAIL”

You are under pressure to deliver complex projects on time, on budget with your reputation intact. You do not always have the luxury of picking and choosing the most highly regarded contractors. You need an efficient way to identify the strengths and weaknesses of every contractor. A simple pass/fail is not enough to succeed in this environment. Highwire provides an efficient, comprehensive risk assessment beyond any contractor prequalification software
