WIC Week Profile: Pinnacle Construction Services

Meet Kourtney Mierzejewski of Pinnacle Construction Services

Kourtney Mierzejewski, the owner of Pinnacle Construction Services, has lived and breathed construction for years—ever since she was a kid, in fact.

“I grew up in a family of builders,” Mierzejewski said.

Her company, which offers commercial plumbing and preventive maintenance for new construction and renovation projects, is only in its third year of business. A tight-knit team, Mierzejewski said some of the relationships she has fostered in her business go back decades.

“Plumbing is our trade. We are passionate about the built environment and improving the quality of life for our clients and our team,” Mierzejewski said.

Landing major Boston projects

Already, Pinnacle Construction Services has been making a splash. Over the last year, Pinnacle Construction Services has wrapped up two key projects, including 225 Wyman Street in Waltham, Massachusetts, a mixed-use project that won an ENR Award of Merit; and a project for the Boston Red Sox, including improvements for the MGM Music Hall and Fenway Park.

Building an inclusive culture

Mierzejewski would advise other women looking to join the trades to “get involved” and “make connections.” Having served as a past president of the National Association of Women in Construction, Mierzejewski said she’s seen first-hand how networking can yield opportunity.

“There is not a single problem that could be put in front of me that I couldn’t think of a specific person to call for advice—any trade, any facet of construction and business,” she said.

Pinnacle Construction Service is the only woman-owned business in Boston to receive Highwire’s Gold Safety Award in its respective trade category. Working with sophisticated owners and construction managers, such as Gilbane and Turner, has positively impacted the safety culture and approach at Pinnacle Construction Service, Mierzejewski said.

“Our approach to safety is really about inclusion,” Mierzejewski said. “We aren’t dictating a culture. We have adopted so many great things from our clients while looking to our crew to adapt and improve upon those for our business. Thankfully, we have a very open and positive crew of people. Everyone can communicate with us about needs and concerns. Given our size, improvements are addressed in real-time.”

Mierzejewski has been using Highwire for many years.

“It streamlines pre-qualification with many clients,” she said. “It offers a level of transparency and cleans up lines of communication.”
